meaningful professional growth
I agree that it needs to be teachers that help to decide what our professional development time should be spent on. At some of our staff meetings our principal has teachers come up and share ideas that he has seen in their classroom that he thinks would be beneficial to all or most of the teachers. Teacher collaboration where we share ideas for standards that we are teaching and what works and what doesn't work I think is the best use of our time. Another problem is that most of the time if a presenter is brought in to talk to us, it doesn't apply to K-6 and usually it mostly doesn't apply to K. So, the K teachers are left out.
I would love to hear what other districts to that the teachers feel is a good use of their time in this area.
